Political Factoid

According to Kelley Holland of CNBC,
the Investment Company Institute
reported that in 1985, there were
170,000 "defined benefits plans"
(a.k.a. pension plans) compared to
30,000 employee-funded 401(k) plans.
By 2005, the defined benefits plans
had dropped to only 41,000 while the
number of 401(k) plans had increased
to 417,000.
