Some people are too proud*
- to accept help from the
fire department when their
house is on fire,
- to accept a coast guard
rescue when their capsized
boat is sinking,
- to accept medical attention
when they have been injured
in an auto accident,
- to accept any act of
kindness from a stranger
-- all for political or religious reasons.
(Bad things only happen to bad people.)
