A right-wing think tank idea,
piloted at the state level by
Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA),
was the foundation of what
became the Affordable Care
Act (a.k.a. Obamacare).
- Obamacare was not what the liberals
and progressives wanted.
- It was a major compromise and
concession by the Democrats
in Congress
- It include numerous GOP
amendments.
- Albeit in the end the Republicans,
as a block, refused to vote for it,
and worked for the next decade
to repeal it (mostly out of spite)
