Political Factoid
Sensing a Democratic mood in the country, key
major industries approached the 2008 elections
by trying to "buy protection" from Democrats.
If they could donate enough (a.k.a. "buy"
enough political favors), they hoped they
could count upon those favors to protect
them from regulation, control, and
accountability.
However, the Democrats worked to "do the right
thing for the country" anyway.
- Most of the carte blanche favors these
industries got came from Republicans.
- Consequently, the large corporations in these
key industries switched their 2010 campaign
giving to the Republicans in a really big way.
