Political Factoid
In 2011 some Republicans governors wanted to:
- Sell off State owned liquor stores.
Let the teenage convenient store clerks decide who buys what.
- Cash in (one time only) by selling off toll (and other) roads to private companies.
Cash in and thin the herd by selling off all breeding stock.
- Offer companies no state taxes if they relocate in their state.
- Provide state paid-for training for the people they hire.
Double hit on the budget! How the heck they plan to pay for this training?
- Release non-violent and aging prisoners to reduce costs.
Expeditiously execute some of the others to further save money.
- Cut unemployment benefits.
- Raise unemployment insurance taxes on businesses.
- Tweak eligibility requirements for Medicaid and move recipients between private and public health coverage.
- Reform public employee pension systems
(with an ax)
Just like stripping cars.
(Maybe that is what some of them did when they were kids.)
