Political Factoid
Republican presidential candidate
Mitt Romney had a plan that
focused tax cuts for the rich,
while cutting taxes marginally
for the middle class.
- Maintain marginal rates at
current levels
(largely by making the Bush tax cuts permanent).
- Reduce or eliminate taxes on savings
and investments
(of which the lower classes have little or none).
- Eliminate the estate tax permanently*
(so as to preserve large collections of wealth).
- Pursue a "flatter,
fairer, simpler" tax structure
(that will reduce the progessiveness of the tax and
favor the corporations and wealthy investors even more).

So that privileged families can stay that way,
e.g., families of Bill Gates, Sam Walton,
George W. Romney, Fred C. Koch, Frank C. Mars, etc.
