Political Factoid

The purpose of a birth certificate
is to "document an event."

The documentation identifies:
  • What (the product of the event)
  • Where (the location of the event)
  • When (the date and time of the event)
  • Who (contributed the DNA that made
    the event possible.)

Typically, it also identifies a witness*
to the event.

* e.g. an attending physician or similar person
who was present and facilitated at the event.
