Republican Representative Darrell Issa of California was slated to
take over as chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in 2011.
Issa, said to be the richest man in the House of Representatives, had said the government needs "to go on a diet"
to erase the annual $1.4 trillion budget deficit.
This did not apply to him, of course. He planned to greatly expand the government activity
of his commmittee. He would seek new subpoena powers for dozens of federal agency watchdogs and investigate everything of the Obama administration.
