Political Factoid

$500 Billion TARP bailout cost taxpayers only $25 billion.   That was bargain!
The U.S. Troubled Asset Relief Program risked up to $700 billion of government funds to bail out troubled banks and automakers.  However, in the end it cost taxpayers a mere $25 billion according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
On the other hand, it cost Republicans like Senator Bob Bennett and dozens of Democrats their seats in Congress (for having supported the program).

(This is typical of how we reward those with the courage to do the right thing for their country.)
