Political Factoid

Problem:
Between 1999 and 2007, there was a five-fold
increase in stomach flu deaths caused by the
bacteria Clostridium difficile.
Deaths from all kinds of stomach flu
more than doubled, with 83% of the
deaths involving people over the age
of 65.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) research

Political solutions?
Libertarians:
It is not a federal government problem.
Let the states take care of it.
The CDC needs to be eliminated.

Conservatives:
Everyone needs to take care of themselves.
Congress needs to cut spending for
CDC stomach flu research.

Republicans:
The solution is private sector capitalism.
Congress should do nothing.

Progressives:
Congress should form a committee
and hold hearings.

Liberals:
The government needs to increase
the research funding.
