Political Factoid
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting
an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof ....
|
The U.S. Constitution prohibits
Congress from establishing a
religion
... but it puts no such
restriction on the individual
states, should they want to
do so.
Can you not just visualize:
- Mormonism as the official religion of Utah.
- Judaism as the official religion of New York.
- Catholicism as the official religion of Massachusetts
- Southern Baptist as the official religion of Georgia.

U.S. Constitution,
Bill of Rights
