Political Factoid
Many people advocate "smaller government."
- Some may be lamenting the decline of the small rural town governments.
- Some may be against government aid to the poor, the sick, and the disadvantaged.
- Some may be objecting to the bureaucracy found in any large organization (both corporations and government agencies).
- Some may want to eliminate the FDIC and similar government programs.
- Some may want to get rid of government contracts in their states and communities.
- Some may want to reduce the number of courts.
- Some may want to reduce the size of Congress
(e.g., like back to the number of Representatives when the Constitution was first written).
- Some may want to reduce the Congressional bureaucracy (staff, committees, etc.).
- Some may be advocating government services be contracted out to "for-profit" companies.
- Some may want the federal government activities be replaced by 50 (similar but different) state-level activities.
- Some may just want to pay fewer taxes.
- Some may want regulations and restrictions be eliminated.
- Some may object to government efforts to protect the people.
- Food inspection
- Clean water
- Clean air
- Safety helmets
- Building codes
- Elevator inspections
- Air traffic control
- Some just want to be able to choose among 50 different sets of rules for everything.
- Some just hate government (especially after getting a ticket for speeding or DUI or anything else).
