Political Factoid
When today's retirees were kids, health care
did not cost as much as it does today.
Yes, there has been some inflation,
but far more significantly, in those days:
- Health care was not dominated by
national corporations.
- Most hospitals were not for profit.
- Malpractice insurance was not an issue.
- Patients paid the doctor, pharmacist,
and hospital directly.*
- There was not an endless amount of
costly, high-tech equipment and
systems available.
- Death was a more-accepted part of life.

without a endless chain of for-profit insurance companies
and for-profit billing companies involved (each taking their cuts).
