Political Factoid
2013 March 29th
- another ExxonMobil oil disaster:
The ExxonMobil Pegasus pipeline,
runs from Patoka, Illinois, to Nederland,
Texas, and can carry more than
90,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude
oil.
It ruptured while carrying
Canadian Wabasca Heavy crude,*
spilling thousands of barrels of oil
in Mayflower, Arkansas.
* |
Wabasca crude is referred to as "oil sands"
heavy Canadian crude by the Canadian
Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA), and
is orders of magnitude more difficult to
clean up than traditional crude oil.
