Bots are computer programs*
that act like automated intruders,
and too often have criminal intent.
- When operated by hackers, bots
are absolutely evil, with nothing
but criminal intent as they hack
into web sites.
- Bot networks typically use multiple
IP addresses to hammer away
at target web sites, like gangs
roaming through a neighborhood.
- Hackers are like vandals who
try every door and window in
each house to see if they can get in,
and once in, they open every
closet and every drawer,
as they invade your space and
loot any thing they can find that
may be of value to them.
- While some bots may be relatively
benign visitors, most are crude,
nasty, bullies, as they steal time,
resources, and information,
and cause damage in general.
