The Canadian parliamentary system is quite different than the presidential / congressional system of United States.
  • The "checks and balances" of the U.S. system often means than the country can move neither forward nor backwards.  It gets stuck in a "go-AND-no-go" situation.
     
  • This may prevent it doing something wrong, but at the same time it prevents it doing anything right.
In the parliamentary system those in the lead actually "have the lead."
  • Unlike the U.S. system, which is often like a large ship of which the Captain must try to correctly steer the ship
    ... with his hand tied behind his back.
No wonder the Canadian banking system is in so much better shape today than is the U.S. Financial industry.
